The 6 guideline areas we currently list are a minimum set of topics that all departments should be working to address.
There are many systemic issues around departmental climate that cannot be easily addressed with these guidelines and straightforward excellence tiers. We have left these topics out not because they are less important, but rather because they are more complex challenges, and will require more complex solutions. These topics include:
- Diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism
- Mental health and wellness
- Power abuses such as harassment, bullying, and assault
